Scuba diving will take you places all over the world. Some of the best dive spots are all over the world from Mexico, Hawaii, South Africa, and Thailand, just to mention a few. After your first dive, you’ll become one with the waters and only crave more diving opportunities.
As you explore the best dive spots in the world, you also experience new cultures, new people, cuisines, and traditions. If you love traveling exploring underwater should also feature in your travel plans. 70% of the world is made up of water, if you are not exploring the water you are missing out.
Professional scuba divers have many opportunities to travel for work, research and leisure. Working as a diving instructor or marine biologist can also present many opportunities to travel.
Traveling and interacting with the local people is the best way to break serotypes and broaden your knowledge of different things.
Discovering Maine Life
The underwater world is truly fascinating. Scuba diving is the only activity that allows you to fully become part of marine life. As you go deeper into the water you will see new species some that you’ve probably only seen in a NatGeo documentary.
This is fun since you can’t see some of the species while snorkeling or simply walking on the beach. Some marine life doesn’t come to the surface of the water and thrives well in certain depths.
Corals are beautiful to explore and discover. You will see corals in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Some corals are as hug as a building and play a huge role in maintaining the underwater environment as well as protecting the shores.
While scuba diving you will also interact with beautiful fish of all colors and shapes. Some fish have interesting features and make it impossible to even name the fish or think of it like a fish in the first place.
Diving with marine life is a fun experience for many people and very relaxing.

An Encounter with Sharks
Many people who have never gone scuba diving or fear scuba diving have most likely heard a story about shark attacks. All myths and stories going around create fear preventing many from experiencing the true beauty of the underwater world.
Unless you are diving in a location known to have sharks, you can dive without seeing one. Seeing a shark unexpectedly is quite fun and exciting for many divers.
Sighting a shark will give you an adrenalin rush a feeling some people live for. Imagine diving beneath these majestic creatures and feeling tiny compared to them.
While enjoying this experience, remember there are some dangerous shark species to look out for. Especially when in a new location, always seek information about the sharks in the area.
Many diving agencies will off cag diving when there are dangerous species such as the great white sharks.
Most shark species are harmless unless provoked.
Meeting New People
Scuba diving connects you with people from all walks of life. You get to interact with like-minded people and explore both worlds together land and underwater.
I met some of my best friends on a scuba diving trip. Even if lifelong friendships don’t blossom you are guaranteed to have fun and great company during your vacation.
Zero Gravity Experience
If you’ve always wanted to go to the moon o space but it’s too expensive for you, try scuba diving.
Yes, you will get the same feeling underwater just like when in space. Buoyancy compensation devices make you weightless and you can just move around in the water in any direction.
You can move up, down, and to the side with zero effort. Just relax and let the water carry you while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
As a beginner, you may experience some trouble with being weightless but once you’ve mastered how to use this to your advantage, you feel invincible.
Being Able To Breathe Underwater
Makes you feel like you have superpowers right!
I know many people who haven’t tried scuba diving due to a fear of not being able to breathe underwater. Many fear they will drown if they can’t breathe properly or take in seawater.
Diving gear and equipment were designed to help dives breathe underwater despite the diving depth. This allows divers to stay in water for long periods with the help of the breathing apparatus and the air cylinders.
Scuba divers use oxygen air tanks while technical and professional divers diving over 100 ft. use highly compressed air made up of helium and oxygen or nitrogen and oxygen.
New Diving Experiences
Each dive will present unique experiences each time you dive. If you dived in a specific spot over 6 months ago, the next time you dive in the same spot it feels like your first time ever.
Diving with a different team also makes the experience different and unique in its own way.
In case you visit the same location don’t cancel your diving plans since you’ve already been there before.
Relaxation and Meditation
Meditation is a proven way to boost your mood and energy.
Scuba diving relaxes your body and mind and is considered a form of meditation. By eliminating all distractions and connecting with the water and marine li, both the mind and body relax.
Seeing the different marine life forms also stimulate the brain in a good way and help in releasing feel-good hormones.
This can also awaken parts of your brain that were dormant boosting your mood.
I’m yet to meet a frowning scuba diver as soon as they surface. Everyone comes up with a huge smile and brighter eyes opening wide with so much joy and satisfaction.
As the divers chat with their buddies, it’s clear everyone is in a better mood than they were before.
When feeling sad or stressed, scuba diving is one way to release the negative energy and boost your moods.
Health Benefits
Water has healing powers and is widely used in physiotherapy. This is one more reason to go scuba diving, don’t wait until you need therapy for you to go diving.
As you move in the cold water, it cools and calms your entire body. This comes with various benefits such as lowering the blood pressure, it can help relieve pain and can slow down your heart rate if it was abnormally high from stress.
To me, this is a fun way to explore the underwater world while receiving nature’s free therapy.
Diving Into Wrecks and Caves
Many divers fancy the idea of diving into the titanic. While this may be too deep, especially without the proper training and experience, you can scuba dive to many other wrecks.
You will be surprised by the number of wrecks and treasures hidden underwater. There is everything from ship to plane wrecks.
Each time you dive into one wreck, you often wonder what happened to those on board or where the ship or plane was heading to. There are many hidden mysteries underwater.
It’s also fun diving into a specific wreck after many months of researching it. You get to see everything you’ve learned and discover more.
Diving in caves is also fun, there is marine life hiding in these caves. Remember to first get proper training and certification before diving into caves and wrecks.
Discovering Treasures
On a lucky day, you can come across a lost treasure as you dive. Some treasures recovered by scuba divers include drones, rings, and necklaces among others.
If you believe in the lost city of Atlantis imagine diving into something close to a lost city. This would be so exciting. As the climate continues to change due to global warming many structures are getting submerged underwater. These structures hold the history and treasures of the people who lived there.
Taking Part in Conservation Activities
Scuba diving opens your eyes to the effects of our activities on land. You get to see how pollution is affecting marine life and other corals.
From this experience, many scuba divers become part of marine conservation groups and defenders of the waters.
As a scuba diver, you can also use your knowledge to educate others on the dangers of pollution and other activities.
Many find joy and peace taking part in conservation and training to keep the world safe for humans and animals on land and sea.
Fun Dives
Once you’ve attained your open water diver certification, you can go on dives with your buddies just for fun. You don’t need a particular reason to dive you simply go diving to have fun with buddies and relax.
This is a great way to keep connections, make new connections, and unveil all the scuba diving benefits. Many scuba divers go diving simply because it’s fun and who doesn’t want to have fun!
Parting Words
Every scuba diver experiences fun in different ways. Whichever way you find the fun you rest assured to feel it when scuba diving.
These are only some of the ways divers have fun scuba diving. There are many more individualized fun ways you will experience during each dive.
